Expedition: Better Together

  • Thank you for attending our Celebration of Learning Wednesday! It was so fun to see everyone dressed up and hear their fabulous presentations.

  • We have begun our first intensive - AHOY MATEY! Shiver me timbers, it's time to learn about maps! This week we discussed latitude, longitude and compass rose. We labeled North, South, East, West in our class and found things in those directions to draw.

** Daley crew has library on THURSDAYS and Jacobson crew has library on FRIDAYS. Kindergarten is only allowed one book at a time**

Take Note:

Are you reading every day?

Our students are working so hard on their letter names and sounds as well as blending those sounds together into words. One way we can continue to support this skill is by reading 20 minutes every night. This includes:

  • Doing the daily section of our homework

  • Letter/sound flashcards

  • Practicing high frequency words or blending non-sense words

  • Reading phonics books.

You can access our reading program online for a small subscription fee. Currently, you can get the first 30 days free with code 30FREE. They have amazing books for our students to read online or you can purchase the actual books to read at home. Please go to iseesam.com and click on "Digital Subscription Edition". We recommend starting at Set 1. If that seems too easy for your student, we are happy to do a placement assessment to see where they should get started - just send your crew teacher an email. We also have a few copies in our classroom you can borrow on an as needed basis. Thanks!
